Good morning and welcome to April. It was around one week ago the clocks moved forward into British Summer Time, yet it currently feels like anything but. This time last week we had blue sunny skies with temperatures hitting 18°C and it felt like summer. One week on and it feels like we’ve jumped back to January! As I sit here writing this in my office I have both a space heater and a desk heater running and still feel like I could be in Antarctica. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the weather is going to let up any time soon as a quick check of the forecast reveals more low temperatures and more rain and possibly even more snow next week. Where will it end!?

The photo to the right shows what people across Teesside woke up to this morning. This is from the UK Weather Watchers group on Facebook, posted by Aaron Anderson in Stockton-on-Tees. I woke up to a similar sight myself just up the road in Billingham, and found myself having to scrape my ice off my car before setting off for work. This is of course your standard moan about the British weather post, so what I will say is if there’s any readers in Florida, California, Australia or some other hot part of the world. Count yourself lucky. The price of everything is on the increase, we’re at the possibility of World War 3 (unlikely to happen I know) and the weather is still cold.

As part of ongoing campaign’s to raise awareness about autism, I recently appeared alongside Autism Matters CEO Anna Taylor and service user Bobby Latheron on local radio station BBC Tees to discuss my personal experiences of how living with aspergers affects my life. Autism still isn’t a well known about condition in today’s society, and as an estimated 700,000 people in the UK have some form of diagnoses of the condition, there definitely needs to be more awareness raised. I appeared on the BBC Tees breakfast show with presenter Neil Green to discuss the issue, which you can hear below.

Take a good look at the man in the photo above. This photo was taken on Bold Street, Liverpool on 3rd March 2021. Do you know this man, or know who he is? This photo was taken by a friend of mine with aspergers syndrome, whom had consent to take the picture. The man then became aggressive, making violent threats, suggesting he would use a knife and threatening to smash my friend’s phone. If you do know who this is then please contact Merseyside Police on 101, as they have now been made aware of the incident. This is obviously a violent, unstable man and he needs taking off the streets for the protection of the people of Liverpool and Merseyside. If you know who he is then I would urge you to contact Merseyside Police on 101 and let them know any information that may be useful to tracing this person and taking him off the streets.

Please also share this post for maximum exposure.

Thank you.

The clowns in uniform are at it again! This time in Solihull, West Midlands where 21 year old Nino Romano was going about his lawful business and was accosted and harassed by the police. I found the video to be sickening, showing a full display of contempt and aggression from the police officer. This is Britain in 2021, but the scene resembles something from Nazi Germany. The footage shows a male police officer demanding to know the man’s name, which he politely refuses, as is his legal right given he had not committed a crime or was reasonably believed to have done so. The clown of an officer than calls him an idiot and aggressively frogmarches him to the car!

What the hell kind of right do the police have to be treating tax-paying citizens in this way? It’s disgusting and sickening. Thankfully West Midlands Police have gone down the route of disciplining this clown, but really he should be sacked. There needs to be a deterrent towards other police officers who are thinking of acting in a similar, despicable manner.

Hallelujah! Common sense has finally prevailed at Derbyshire Police as they cancel the £200 fine issued to walkers Jessica Allen and Eliza Moore. Not only that but they also rightly received an apology. Although this is a good example of common sense prevailing, I wouldn’t get too used to it as I’m sure the police will continue to clutch at straws in order to issue unnecessary fines such as in this case. However as proven, with enough public backlash they will eventually back down and see reason.

This is actually great to see. I’m fairly sure in any case even if the police hadn’t cancelled the fine they most likely could have taken it to court and had it thrown out anyway, as it was ridiculous to be even imposed in the first place. Despite what people with a conformist attitude may think; travelling for exercise is NOT against the law and does not contravene the rules. Public 1 – 0 Derbyshire Police.

This Saturday it was announced by so called “experts” that the current coronavirus lockdown which was brought in one week ago, was not tough enough, and they may have to make restrictions even tougher than what they currently are. To sum it up, they introduced a new lockdown and then gave it no more than five days before deciding it wasn’t strict enough. This is absolute absurdity. The current lockdown hasn’t even been given a chance to work. Do these “experts” really think that they can just implement a lockdown and they will achieve results overnight and the infection rate will just suddenly drop? It is well known that it takes at least month before the lockdown effects start to be seen, but of course government ministers and the SAGE scientists are too impatient to wait that long.

Already they are discussing tighter restrictions. We are already in a national lockdown. How much stricter can things get? A dome over towns and cities like in The Simpsons Movie? A seatbelt to barricade us to our sofas with a bucket to piss in, just in case we leave traces of Covid-19 on the toilet handle?

Shame on Derbyshire Police. This joke of a police force has just made headlines after they felt it was necessary to fine two women £200 each for the heinous crime of going for a walk in a local park. The clowns also accused the pair of going for a picnic, the reason? They had two peppermint teas in their possession. Is this really what it has come to? The police fining people for taking LEGAL exercise. Clearly there’s no crime in Derbyshire since the police supposedly have loads of time on their hands. Not to mention during the first lockdown they saw fit to pour black dye into a reservoir near Buxton to discourage visitors!

Obviously Derbyshire Police could care less about actual crimes going on in the local area. Burglaries, murders, paedophiles, rapists; that’s all irrelevant because that would require the lazy Derbyshire Constabulary to actually do some real police work. No, it’s far easier to hand out a few fines and pour dye into a local reservoir.

Maybe these clowns should go and actually do their jobs and catch some real criminals rather than targeting members of the public just trying to go about their day. For the record, there’s no legislation whatsoever that says people can’t travel for exercise. The way the police have behaved during this pandemic is nothing short of disgusting and despicable. Just yesterday, a video surfaced of Met Police manhandling a 92 year old man. I found the video sickening to watch. Unfortunately, I feel we are only going to see more incidents like this in the future. It’s truly a sad day for humanity.

Should private firework displays be regulated? https://jack-bromby.com/opinions/should-private-firework-displays-be-regulated/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=should-private-firework-displays-be-regulated https://jack-bromby.com/opinions/should-private-firework-displays-be-regulated/#comments Thu, 05 Nov 2020 18:37:46 +0000 https://jack-bromby.com/?p=184 It’s 5th November and Bonfire Night is upon us again. The post Should private firework displays be regulated? appeared first on Jack Bromby's Personal Website.

It’s 5th November and Bonfire Night is upon us again. For many, this is a fun time of the year when we think back to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. People all over the country light fireworks in their back gardens creating some lovely displays in the night autumn sky. Public displays are also common, however there will be none this year due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. This also happens to be the first day of a one month lockdown currently in force across England.

The other side I want to look at is the fact that fireworks can also be a dangerous, especially when in the wrong hands. Just this past weekend there was an incident in Dundee where up to 100 youths were causing mayhem in the street. They decided to aim fireworks at responding police officers. A similar incident happened last year in Blackburn. If it’s not people then cars have also been target as we saw last month in Sheffield. I don’t feel I need to go into the type of damage this incredibly reckless action could cause.

Permit Controlled Displays?

The question I ask is: Should private firework displays be regulated? Now, let me clarify my position, I am absolutely not in favour of banning fireworks completely. I don’t believe in banning things as this spoils things for everybody thanks to the actions of a few feral youths who are the minority. However, I would propose that maybe we could institute some sort of control system to prevent fireworks ending up in the hands of people who behave dangerously with them. These are not toys. They should be treated as the explosive ordinances they are.

What I would be in favour of would be the introduction of a fireworks permit which could be issued by an individual’s local council around Firework Night each year. An application could be submitted online, or in person a week or two beforehand. Retailers would only be permitted to sell fireworks within a week or a few days before 5th November. They would also only be able sell to persons in receipt of a valid permit. Anyone in possession of fireworks without a permit would be liable to large fines and confiscation of the fireworks.

One could argue that such a system would not work 100% anyway, so why bother implementing it? I take that point on board, and I agree that yes it would not work 100%, however it would work to an extent at ensuring who can purchase fireworks and who cannot. If it would be enough to prevent the incidents I have mentioned above then I would suggest it is worth bringing in. Another side to look at is people unnecessarily lighting them weeks before the 5th November, at all hours of the night disrupting people and causing distress to pets. Fireworks should be kept to the 5th November only.

I don’t like to consider myself a killjoy and promote free thinking just as much as the next person. However, given just how dangerous fireworks can be, I feel this may be a potential solution to preventing unnecessary injury caused by feral youths up and down the country who cannot handle the responsibility of handling fireworks. I would love to know your thoughts on this. Whether you are for or against my idea, or if you think there is a better way? I promote free speech on this website and would love to hear your views. Leave a comment below and let me know.

The Bauer owned national radio brand Greatest Hits Radio has today extended coverage to Plymouth in Devon on 106.7 FM and tomorrow will extend to Ipswich in Suffolk on 102 FM, overtaking Radio Plymouth and Ipswich 102 respectively. Bauer purchased Radio Plymouth last month and has entered into a brand licence agreement with the Ipswich 102 owners.

All local programming will end except for the drive time show and programmes will now originate from Manchester and Liverpool. GHR has recently expanded across much of the country after purchasing a large number of local radio stations from UKRD and Wireless Group. They have also recently purchased Oldham’s Revolution 96.2 and this is expected to rebrand in the next couple of weeks, extending FM coverage of the Greatest Hits brand across much of Manchester.

To avoid duplicating GHR on DAB on the Suffolk multiplex, Hits Radio will be added. The regional drive time show will be hosted by Rob Chandler on the Ipswich service and Russ Wilcox on the Plymouth service.
